Instant credit card approval is a term often branded by credit card websites, in an effort to attract new custom to their portals. But does instant credit card approval actually exist? Is it possible to be approved for a credit card immediately after submitting an application? I set out to find the answer to this question, and to discover just how long the approval process takes in a typical card application.

I began my research by carrying out a search using the Google search engine for the term 'instant credit card approval', and subsequent search terms for credit cards which included the word 'instant'. On studying the results returned by Google I noticed that the listed websites were offering similar products to any other card issuing sites, and that there were no short cuts available in the application process.

The shortest times available for those seeking instant credit card approval seem to be available to those individuals who have a perfect or near perfect credit history, and in those cases approval is often made within minutes of submitting an online application form. For those with less than perfect credit, approval may take anywhere from a few minutes to several days depending on the research that the card company needs to carry out in investigating the customer's application.

However, I need to point out that although approval is immediately confirmed, this does not mean that you will be receiving your new credit card any sooner than the normal application process. It is purely a confirmation that you are qualified to apply for a credit card. The application process begins immediately after you obtain your instant credit card approval.

The system relies upon the accuracy of the information you initially submit and at this point is totally computerized. If there are any inaccuracies in your submitted data, you may still be rejected when you reach the application process. The computerized results make it possible for you to get the instant credit card approval you seek, however, your application will be handled by a bank associate who will run a series of checks on the information you have provided.

That is not to say that instant credit card approval is a negative move, but searching for the deal that suits your own future financial plans is more important than how quickly you receive your new credit card.
